Its tropical climate, excellent schools, proximity to beaches, parks, entertainment, shopping and dining establishes Aventura as a destination onto itself, while its close proximity to the attractions throughout Southeast Florida make the city an ideal location to call home.

Aventura, incorporated as the City of Aventura in 1995, is 3.2 square miles on the intracoastal waterway. Renowned as “The City of Excellence,” Aventura is located in the northeast corner of Miami-Dade County, about 17 miles north of the City of Miami and 12 miles south of Fort Lauderdale.  It’s about 30 minute drive to South Beach, downtown Miami, downtown Fort Lauderdale, and Fort Lauderdale International airport, and offers close walkability proximity to the Aventura Mall, Gulfstream Park and Casino. Aventura is also 10 minute drive to the beach or better yet, bike ride to the beach.

Aventura is synonymous with world-class shopping. Aventura Mall is the largest mall in the area with six department store anchors and hundreds of shops. You will find Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, a host of luxury retailers, unique shops, and dining – both casual and upscale. The multiplex movie theater, many restaurants, food court and water slide make it ideal for all ages.

Another dining, shopping and entertainment destination is the nearby Village of Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, which offers a large selection of boutiques, home accessory stores, nightclubs, dining and entertainment choices. As part of the Village is the magnificent Gulfstream Park Racetrack, with thoroughbred racing and Casino with Vegas-style slot machines and poker.

Aventura schools are A rated.  The public school, Aventura Waterways K-8 Center, along with the charter K-8 school Aventura City of Excellence School [ACES] and the city’s newly opened charter High School, make the city a popular home for families of all ages.

The City’s many parks include Founders Park, the Don Soffer Exercise Trail, Waterways Park, Waterways Dog Park and Veterans’ Park are all popular with residents. The parks are tropically landscaped, offering playgrounds and facilities available for a variety of sports, activities, walking trails and jogging paths.

The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center is a high-tech facility offering a wide range of performing arts, musicals, concerts, cultural programs, and entertainment for all ages.

The history of Aventura is short, yet storied. The area was initially referred to as Turnberry when it began to be developed during the early 1970s and became an incorporated city in 1995. The Aventura Police Department was formed shortly after.

Aventura is home to the luxury resort Turnberry Isle, now under the  Marriott brand, featuring BOURBON Steak by Michael Mina, CORSAIR kitchen & bar, Tidal Cove Water Park and two 18-hole championship courses.
